I am Jan, the proud owner of ‘Barbour Coastal Retreats’ which I launched in 2020 with the aim of sharing the wonderful artists town of Kirkcudbright and its surrounding areas with the world.

I am a local girl, growing up on a beef and sheep farm just outside Kirkcudbright. After studying Agri-Food Marketing at college I returned to the area to work in sales and marketing for local luxury ice cream business, Cream O’ Galloway.

During my 20’s I lived and worked overseas and in London for well-known brands such as Duchy Originals, Daylesford Organics and the British Chamber of Commerce. It wasn’t until I met my husband and we started our family that I realised the pull of the wonderful Dumfries and Galloway coastline was something I wanted my children to grow up experiencing - hence the decision to start Barbour Coastal Retreats.

I pride myself in providing a welcoming, family-friendly experience through Barbour Coastal Retreats - one that shares my passion for the people and places I grew up amongst and celebrates everything this unique part of the world has to offer.
